My current work is influenced by the natural phenomena of weather and the effects of water on the landscape. Rain enhances and reflects the appearance of objects, intensifying their colors. Fog creates a monochromatic ghostly atmosphere that obscures and transforms the landscape. Similar to influences I’ve used in my sculptures, I look for the tracery that is found in structures, a tangle of branches, or a pattern of vegetative growth that I can abstract and recreate. Images are edited and enhanced with color to convey how I experienced that moment taking the photo. A gloomy gray rainy day is transformed by the color blue to conjure the feeling of the cold wet air and the stillness and serenity the rain brings. The reflectiveness of water extends the landscape with a mirror image or ripples it into an abstract form. I look to bring the viewer a sense of wonder at the beauty in nature and use monochromatic color to evoke emotion. .
